Nitrogen Effect on Growth-Related Parameters and Evaluation of Portulaca oleracea as a Phytoremediation Species in a Cr(VI)-Spiked Soil

In a pot experiment, we assessed the potential of purslane (Portulaca oleracea) as phytoremediation species in Cr(VI)-contaminated soils. We focused on evaluation phytotoxic Cr(VI) effects at concentrations reaching 150 mg kg?1 and possible stress amelioration effect nitrogen Cr(VI)-stressed plants. Treatments were T-0 (control), T-1 (25 kg?1), T-2 = 50 kg?1, T-3 100 T-4 kg?1. measured concentration aerial root tissues, series parameters related to photosynthesis plant growth, phosphorus tissue content, also calculated indices (ratios) leaf growth above ground water content. almost exclusively was found tissues; all physiological studied severely affected plants selectively accumulated tissues with increasing soil concentrations. On other hand, N amendment resulted improved features some parameters: chlorophyll index added T-2, height significantly higher T-0, T-1, dry weight area T-0; these indicate that did increase P. oleracea ameliorate toxic effects. conclude showed be successfully introduced Cr(VI)-laden soils, but more research is certainly necessary.
